A Couple Newbie Questions

I am a longtime King's Field fan, but I am extremely new to this software or anything like this. I really only downloaded the software so I could play fan made games the original KF game with an English translation. I have a couple of questions:

1. Okay, so I have everything installed. I went to open the sample game that comes with the download, and the game itself works fine, but when I talk to NPC characters in the game, the dialogue box appears, but there's no dialogue.

2. Does anyone know where I can find an English translation of the original Japanese version of King's Field to play on this software?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since it is still in the japanese format I think you would likely need to install japanese language support as your primary language set to get the text to show ( I could be wrong).

As far as I know there is not a translated version of this via SOM yet, but there is a translated for the playstation that you can download and play on an emulator. ‎  I also have a psp version available.

Let me know if either format would suit your needs.

Okay, but I can't read Japanese. I downloaded the English version of SOM.

Are you saying that the sample game is in Japanese? Because the title screen was english. It was called King's Field Dark something in the title.

If I am understanding you right, then all I have to do is find an English made game and use that, right?

The sample that comes with SoM is in Japanese. ‎  As far as most of the text is concerned, you won't be able to read it. ‎  There are still some things to learn from it though!

The King's Field Dark Destiny pic that comes with the "sample" is some of Todd's (DMPDesign's) handiwork. ‎  ^_^

There are a few great games already made with SOM you can try on the main site and a few more in progress here.

Maybe someday I might work on using john's PS1 translation of the KF1 to redo the sample that comes with SOM.
