I started taking pieces out and found the culprit. An item placed on the map. It was so weird because there was nothing significant about the item's placement, and there were many copies of it on the map that didn't cause a problem. ‎

...yet there it was... that one item placed where it was caused my crash.

I eliminated the problem when I stopped placing items themselves on the map. They're best reserved in chests and menus anyway.

Tom, if you recall I had the same issue. ‎  I agree its likely a single item that is causing you grief. ‎  If i recall for me it was an item i may have had listed in my item table twice with the same name...something odd about it, but I dont remember what it was.

problem was fixed and game is back in motion thanks guys! fucking love you! ‎  Tongue

the warp crash occured after i had placed two items on these pedestal obects manually in the editor.
so i did as hg said, i placed all items in a chest, in an object/event or npc/monster.. and it was fixed..

so glad i signed up here :3

p.s. the sound and graphics are much better on my older emachines with an nvida 6150 gpu as opposed to my other one which has a more up to date ati card and specs.. :P

If I recall, Tom's problem was that if you use the same model for two different Items on a single map, the game will crash when leaving that map. Tom had multiple "notes" buried around that all used the same "Document Scroll" model. If the player didn't pick the scrolls up before warping off the map, the game would crash.

To a large degree, SoM looks up game parts by name when saving or loading so it's not surprising that having unique items with identical names (model name or item name) could cause problems.

LOL its been so long I barely remember!

Todd, I really should take advantage of the memory loss and start enjoying what I forgot.
