Hello!
I've seen a lot of let's plays and have noticed many forums are still active regarding this hidden gem of a game so I thought that I'd reach out and show the community my particular take on the game lately in the form of speedrunning what is probably one of the slowest strategy games ever made! lol
There are many ways to play this wonderfully complex classic and I have beaten it countless times in more conventional fashions, I always love building up a super army and decimating any opposition. But I saw that Grand Edition opened up the possibility for a speedrun. Since this about saving time and not as much about leveling units I play on Squire difficulty mostly because the AI will actually attack you when they are defending castles instead of waiting for you to approach, this among other things makes a fully finished Norgard campaign possible in about 5 hours. When I first started running as Norgard I was looking at more around 8 hours, so the fact that my latest run finishes at 5:17 is a lot of progress, I honestly think it can drop down to 4:30 hours with good luck and master strategy.
I'd love for anyone interested to get involved, watch my run and give me notes, develop your own strat for Norgard or any other faction, find interesting ways to save time! For instance a newer concept I'm toying with is putting a super weak unit in the front line, like a mage or cleric, to draw one of their knights into kill range.. Problem with that is that you're playing with fire and if your knight gets gibbed then you lost the castle and for me that's pretty much a reset.. And you do not want to reset after 3 hours in and more than half the continent conquered lol
Anyway, let me know what you think! I'd love for some people to collaborate with me! See ya around :D
