First off I love kingsfield games and remember playing the original KF1 on the ps1 about 8-10 years ago, it had me mesmerized.
Second, thanks to all the fans for creating these offshoots.
Now I have noted at least 2 bugs still in game:
at Harry's inn , when I stay the night all I hear is music for a few seconds then the game crashes.
This bit is tricky to say.
After you kill the devil and it drops a crystal and the crystal falls over the waterfall, this bit, and you keep going until you have got past the mushrooms and snake, I first went throught this door and it is the bit where you can pick up a peach and if you fall off the cliff there is a truth mirror, and there is lava with a bridge and a pedestal in the middle, this bit now when I go there now and go through this door all I do is fall from the door and there is sky everywhere , if any one can understand that then you are better than me HA HA.
I have been playing for 3 days and have installed the game with the latest patch ver 1.5.
What is going on here can someone explain this .
I am really enjoying the game and do not want to give up, if it can not be fixed could someone email some saves past this bit please .

The first problem you are having is a codec issue it sounds like.
I am curious if you can get the opening demo to play?
If you can...and the dream sequence does not play, browse to the games DarkDestiny\Data\Movie folder and try to play the dream1.avi file there in something like windows media player and let me know what happens.
if you have not installed the ligos codec yet please get it from here:

if you have installed that codec and are running windows vista let me know....otherwise when you try to run the video in windows media player it should bring up an error that will let you browse for the proper video codec needed to run it. Let me know if any of this helps.
The second bug you are getting sounds like the warp point bug that I have forgotten to fix. There is a map transition between the lava area and the waterfall cliffs inside that small hallway beyond the snakes/mushrooms. If you dont hit it just right you actually walk through it which is why you are opening a door to nowhere. Try moving around in the small area in the hallway until you hear the music change, then you will know the map has switched to the correct one. I will fix this in 1.06 due this week.

Yep that worked, only trouble I was having is that the Ligos codec's where corrupted tried 3 differn't download links, all corrupted, I had to install ace mega codecs pro, and go with pro installation, these had the ligos codecs and it installed correctly, very strange.
yes I am running the game under vista home edition.
This game is amazing, thank god I can carry on, the only thing is I am completely stuck, I can't find a post to put my star key in "so as I can get that mirror when you fall and get back to a star gate, but I suppose I will need a star cane or something", or I can't find any other keys to open any door's except the jail key.
Would you please write a walkthru because I am dumbfoundly stuck, and I have completed every KF game without a hint, but this one is very hard, but very good .
again thank you for the fast a precise response, and keep making these sequal's, this one is just as good as some of the KS Game's better than shadow tower any day of the week .

The files you may have downloaded might not have been corrupted. The reason I asked about the windows vista, was vista does not register the .dll files correctly with the ligos codec I posted earlier...if you do it manually it works fine. Apparently microsoft decided not to support the ligos codec after XP, so to register the .dll you have to do it manually through a run command.
Anyways, you got it fixed, so thats good!
The star key...purchased from the shop keeper in central village.
The star gate is an item a friend will give you:) Try talking to Fai in north village...he may have some other goodies for you as well.
A walkthrough is being written as we speak, and the hard copy of the game will come with a map book of all the areas and the items etc. I will eventually post this on the DD webpage as well, but I wanted to give the folks a chance to figure it out themselves first.
I will give you a hint or two though...if you want spoilers.
*******SPOILERS BELOW********
In Harvine's castle, there is a key near a save crystal in his wine cellar...check under the stairs.
In the East Village...a single jail cell with a skeleton in it hides another key...but you have to find a way to get to the door on the other side to get in.
The Star Gate/Key is not the only way to teleport out of danger...another mysterious item exists...befriend a small boy to get access to this item.

I have got further, I am just about to enter the big mine, I can't wait, I am going for a coffee first then right into the mine, wish me luck .
This game is astonishingly good and huge, the best KF fan game I have ever played, A big well done, and thank you for the pleasure it has given me, feels like an original kf game, the excietment, anticipation, and curiosity to explore every knook and cranny and to find all the hidden doors, Oh I so a wee imp earlier like out of the orgingal KS games a brilliant touch, she showed me what each item is.

Game completed, what a masterpiece you created it had KF1 + KF2 + KF4 all rolled into one game .
Bugs I still see are:
save points in, big cave, and forest not working.
When I went to the castle the libririan would not talk to me, and a door to the left where you walk down stairs to when you get to the castle, was just showing sky when you opened it.
That is all that was left, what I seen .
I could not get to the fire cave, for there was a statue blocking the entrance, think I had to do something but could not figure it out.
I could not find the key to open the royal chests.
I could not find the keys "Think they are orladins keys" to get to certain areas.
And for the life of me could not find that fishing tackle for Jose, oh that's right Jose stopped talking to me near the end of the game, "maybe he was in a bad mood I did not find his fishing tackle" .
But I still completed the game.
Thank you very much for a truly amazing game, as good as any king's field game, and you could have easily sold it retail, it was that proffesional.

I am glad you liked it, i will try to get all those things fixed that you mentioned ( I have most done now)
and will again release a patch with some more fixes.
A full map walkthrough with all spoilers will be available in a week or so...so hopefully you'll patch and give the game a second go to see the rest of it.
From the sounds of it I would wager you probably didn't get to see at least 2 full areas, and werent able to experience much of the quest story.
Maybe there is enough for a second play through someday :)

I agree it's as good a KF fix as any (especially after so long / a true spiritual successor) and a monumental achievement. I could say more but from the pov of a fellow Som devotee anyway I'm continually floored. If only the combined budget / man hours of every EA/Microsoft funded game studio (not to mention From') could produce as much value you might have some competition for my attention (seriously)
