I think collaborating on a project will yield the best results. I'm far from being a "jack of all trades", and am little more than an above average musician with a knack for level design.
Like all teams, if you want a decent job done, you're going to have to hire someone.
Money can come later - start with a contract.
Demanding free handouts will yield you leftovers at best.
I don't understand how you're wanting to take these new and innovative approaches to this "game" yet, basically hash it as a perfect version of DoM?
DoM is what it is because it has originality. I'm sure you know, it's really hard to be innovative without originality.
You should make something of your own. Yeah, DOMPerfect will be good for shits and giggles, but your best bet at game quality would be your own game/story/etc. rather than leeching off someone else.
My opinion, you need to probably get into a different program than SoM.
There's damn good reasons why it's been completely abandoned.
Maybe you could go to darkbasic.com ?
....or leave your Xavier chair and go play outside for a little while? For a change?
