Equipment Weight Limit

I'm going to assume it's based on strength but dose anyone know how much max weight is given per point in strength?

Rather then the traditional level up system I'm planning on letting the player choose between the strength or magic stats. I feel this would make the players think about the equipment they use rather then simply wearing whatever is the strongest armor is. They can pick strength and be able to use heavier weapons and better armor while picking magic would allow for ranged attacks but having lower equipment weight.

I don't remember anyone charting weight limits cause/effect, but it probably wouldn't be too hard to figure by making a little test game.

I think giving the player a choice between magic and strength would be great. Customization ads fun and changes gamplay.

Done a bit of testing and here are the results I got:

STR ‎  | ‎  Max Equip.
‎  1 ‎  ‎  | ‎  15.0
2,3 ‎  | ‎  15.1
4,5 ‎  | ‎  15.2
6,7 ‎  | ‎  15.3
8,9 ‎  | ‎  15.4
10,11| ‎  15.5


That seemed to be enough to see the pattern. Every 2 points in str adds .1 to max equip. Not quite as much as I had hoped for. I guess I'll change my "level up" item to add 10 to the selected stat rather then 5 to compensate for the slow increase in max equip.

Good info to know. Seems like a very small increase, but maybe part of that is the kilogram vs pound effect since I'm used to thinking in pounds. I guess you'd have to make minor weight variations in equipment to get full use of the effect. Thanks Scott ‎  beerchug
