KF1(J) Eboot?

#1
Heyy,

I've been looking everywhere for a working KF1 eboot. I found this one:
https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/KF1Translated.htm

but the Dropbox link is dead.

I've tried converting my own, but it always crashes my PSP when I try to save.

Can anyone post a working one if it isn't too much trouble?
Thanks ‎  Biggrin

I have nothing to do with any download links, but the save-freeze was a problem with the original translation patch. I meant to fix it, but never found the time. Attached is the 'temporary fix' patch. If you apply to your own, it should work.

I can answer these questions for you! And I don't think it's a hassle at all! I'm glad you're trying to play some King's Field 1

1. The SoM remake of KF1 is a full remake :)

2. Yes there is a video during the "there was a small country called Verdite" intro. Idk what's wrong with your copy :/

3. Spacebar interacts with objects, Tab is menu, Shift is attack, Control is magic, I use the numpad all the way on the right side of the keyboard for movement, with 7 and 9 being look up and look down, Escape is your back button

I hope you can resolve these issues. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where I got my copy but if you need help, I'd be more than happy to try and assist you with finding a working copy. I'll just upload mine if i have to... Have you checked dmp's download section here on SoM?

No, no, I really enjoy the SoM "eboot" of KF(JP). It's basically the exact same thing as the ps1 version but with better graphics and some questionably reskinned/renamed monsters and NPC's. Still, I would recommend this version over the ps1 incarnation any day.

When I was read about how you tweaked your settings to get the video running, I vaguely remembered having the same problem getting the game to function when I first downloaded it but I'm not sure how I fixed the issue.

I'm not home right now but when I get back, I'll have a look at it and see what I did to fix it on my computer.

Hello ‎  Smile

Your problem could be that your antivirus is blocking the .exe, theres no threat there, but some AV programs automatically block it (even if you add a rule)
Try disabling your AV, then try.

If that fails, it could be an emulation problem... So make sure you have device=2 to the .ini file

If that last option fails, you could try a save game. I can create a save for you right at the beginning if you want Rainbow

I'm sorry it took so long but I finally remembered how I fixed it.

I did what you are suggesting and bypassed the intro to just try the game. I hit Tab and went into the main menu, and was able to fix this issue through the Options menu.

These are my working settings

Device: display Direct3D HAL
Resolution: 640 x 480
Texture Mode: Triliner filtering
Adjust Bright: 8

Hope that does it :/
