I didn't actually use a codec; they are a direct transfer of the unedited video that came with KFJ combined with your new audio.
The audio and video is actually separate in AVI (Audio Video Interlaced) format. So it's easy to replace one without touching the other.
I believe SoM used the Intel Indeo5 codec which should come standard with Windows.
The movies I uploaded play on WMP in a fresh install of XP (no added codecs). Maybe Micro$oft removed support for Indeo5 in Vista/7?
Do you have trouble playing the original KFJ movies?
Anyways, if you want to make your DD movies smaller, you can play around with them in Virtual Dub. The Codec won't affect the final size very much; the bitrate and resolution will be the main factors.
So weird, the codecs I used to make all my movies were the indeo 5 ones (which is why i include the codec in the game download) but ya, it is more difficult to get them to play in vista (not impossible) and as far as i know maybe impossible in windows 7.
Oddly enough I tried them on an xp machine that has the indeo codec installed that I needed to run the DD movies...so I haven't a clue whats going on there.
Ill look into it and make sure I have everything properly installed...thanks for the tip john!
