havnt made much else yet to screen shot.. i wanna start making map pieces and doors but its a lil confusing.. i read the tutorial about how to make msm pieces but are there any guidelines about how big to make a wall piece or corner? or how wide it needs to be? or is it really what ever ya want it? not to mention making sure every thing lines up right and make ceilings line up if there are ceilings.
It seems like a lot to do but if im gonna make a good game i gotta figure out that stuff... templates would be helpful as a guide if possible. also do i want all the textures to be 256 x 256 or are doors and certain walls different as far as sizes go?

Ok you might have skipped the part in my map creation tut about metaseq's primitive cubes / planes basically either of these are 1 map piece each. So the map dimensions you can find out by simply creating a primitive cube or plane - just dont move them before you create them.
But yeah you can make anything whatever size, but remember with odd sizes corners are a HUGE pain in the sphincter - i spent a long time fixing up corners for shallow walls and they took ages. So my advice is to make all walls and corners cubes. In regards to textures, you can change the texture size (could someone list some of the texture limits below 256?) but basically you really should try to keep most stuff 256x256 mainly for a better resolution. Heres an easy way to start off with a map piece. Create a cube and set a texture to it put the texture in the right places, then export as x > convert > use it in game. If you just set a texture to a cube it'l map all sides without any effort. But if you stretch it on the Y axis it'l stretch the texture too.

Like Verdite says, Meta's square primitive is 200x200 which is the size of a single map Piece so they're a good reference, but you can make Pieces just about any size.
In case you want to to know the size of existing SoM Pieces, I made a template model collection for you- it's at the bottom of the "Add on" post. Most of SoM's original Pieces are in multiples of 50 Metasequoia size units. Room Pieces are 100 or 200 wide and 300 tall. Double doors are 400 wide and 250 tall, single doors. . . well you can guess ;) Steps are 50 high etc. If the numbers sound too abstract, they're in the template.

well made my very first map piece yayyyy .. only a floor tile but a good start.. got a lot of textures to try out too .. gettin excited again
