Actually I should rephrase this. ‎  You can have a continuous enemy spawn based on event usage but not actually using the Continuous style enemy property.

To create a monster that will spawn continuously based on an event you must set the monster to appear type "event" else you cant control it.

Now with it set up as event...you would need to attach an always on event to a dummy object.

It would look like this:
=============================
Continuous Mummy Event

Event: Always On
Counter Value = 0 of 'mummy' counter.
Leaf number 1: Activate enemy "mummy01"
=============================

Now when you want an event to turn this off just have the event raise the counter value of the 'mummy' counter to something other than 0 and they will stop appearing.

I use this in DD with a Giant spider and its babies. ‎  The babies keep hatching and coming at you until you kill the mother. ‎  Upon death, the event counter is raised to one and the activated enemies will no longer hatch, and the eggs will dissappear. ‎  Its pretty cool.
