Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - dmpdesign - 2009-09-10 Man I forgot all about it, since I have the files here at work, and Ive been horribly busy at work. OK, I will look into it today! Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - dmpdesign - 2009-09-10 OK, grab filesplitter to join the files back from here: https://www.filesplitter.org/Free-File-Splitter-v5.0.1189.exe I will try to get all the files uploaded by the end of the day, there are going to be 5 pieces altogether totalling around 2.4 gig. They will be called Base XP SP3.rar.chunk001-005. Hopefully that will work for you. Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - dmpdesign - 2009-09-11 OK Holy, its up, let me know if you have any problems downloading it. Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-09-11 Man that was quick... now I wish I'd got onto you a couple days ago before I was in town yesterday Is the 2.4GB compressed? 2.4GB is still a bit more than I can afford to download against my FAP at home (I get like 7GB a month or so) So probably it will be until I have to make another trip in town to give it a go I've had in in the back of my mind to do a little map work the last week or so. In the meantime I'll just have to fire up the older machine I've been using for that if the mood takes me. PS: Thanks again Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - dmpdesign - 2009-09-12 Unfortunately that is compressed, i think the file was about 4-5gig uncompressed. If you would like I can mail you a dvd with the file on it or something? Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-09-12 ^It'll just be a week or two before I can get to it. I'm not sure media mail would be any faster Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-09-19 I'm remote downloading, but I noticed there doesn't seem to be a checksum file in the folder with the chunks. You should look into that/generate one, so if there is a bad chunk we can find out which one(s) we have to download again Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-09-19 ^Oh nvm... I'm thinking the program you used to generate the "chunk" files probably checksum/checks them before putting them back together Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-10-07 Wow, this was really easy once the files where in place. I guess I will need to install SOM yet again to the VM? I'm not positive how legal it would be, but it would be interesting to provide people with a VM fully decked out for SOM development... seeing as how the entire process can be somewhat unintuitive, might help others get started more easily. ^I think MS no longer challenges the legality of distributing WinXP. I mean it's illegal, but MS seems to officially no longer care. Maybe because DX will no longer be backwards compatible and it's not something they can really regulate technically anyway. That is to say, really it's a question of how you're supposed to be using VMware. Which is not something I know about... but it is pretty neat. Re: VMWare Player may be a solution to the editor crashing - Holy_Diver - 2009-10-07 We need some cool SOM wallpapers for our VMware/VPC virtual machines |
