Goodbye SoM - scott - 2009-11-20 Well, I haven't been on for quite a few days and I haven't done much with Som. All I've done was write a bad story line for a game that will be known to only a few people. I think I've given up on SoM... I've recently been wasting my days away playing runescape, but I still want to play Dark Destiny so I'm going to pop up here from time to time. I just wanted to say my goodbyes to everyone. Goodbye everyone, I hope your projects come along nicely... Re: Goodbye SoM - dmpdesign - 2009-11-20 You should post your story, you never know..someone way want to make a game out of it? Making a game with SOM is very time consuming, and certainly doesnt fit in everyone's schedule. Someone like Tom or Asus who seem to be able to get a lot done in a short time probably could have had my game done in just a few months...its taken me over a year. Anyways, pop in and see whats going on from time to time...maybe youll get the inspiration to make a quick game sometime. Re: Goodbye SoM - kilroyfx - 2009-11-20 Don't worry, SOM is a stepping stone even if its a small one :) I said good bye to SOM years ago, but I have such fond memories of the game.......... Re: Goodbye SoM - Hguols - 2009-11-21 Heh, I'm just a musician, much less a game maker and even much less a story teller. Most of my creation of Diadem of Maunstraut and Trismegistus were spontaneous. It was a collection of 'This sounds good's added together. The point is, when I had fun, it bore fruit. If it involved something I didn't like, I didn't do it. What you see in the games, is what I like. DoM took 2 months and Trismegistus took 4. Eh, but not everyone can follow through with this sort of thing, nor could everyone find this sort of thing fun. I have a GREAT idea for a 3rd game, and have a bit of a map built - but I'm waiting, more or less, for some systematic improvements. I really don't want to make another game with the same items, same objects, same enemies, same NPCs, same map pieces. Between both games, I've used everything at least once. Re: Goodbye SoM - scott - 2009-11-23 I think what I'm going to do is take the short story I made and turn it into a book. (I don't think I'll ever be able to publish it but it better to try and fail then never tried at all) If It ever gets published, I'll send everyone who want a copy one of them for free. This was what made me think of making a book anyway so it's the least I could do for everyone. Also, I thought of making what I had done into a short game.(But I had thought of that after I got rid of everything ) The only reason I'm not going to write any of it down on here is cause I don't want anyone to steal my ideas.(not that I'm saying any you would steal my idea but someone else who comes along......) I will come back from time to time to see how everyones doing and mabey download a game or two. Once this topic dies down I'm going to say my final goodbye's. Re: Goodbye SoM - Hguols - 2009-11-24 In that case, I will be here to randomly bump this.... FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Dude, don't make this a job. Have fun with it if you can - don't ban yourself from some fun. Just mess around with it. You don't HAVE to make a complete game. ^_^ Re: Goodbye SoM - scott - 2009-11-24 I didn't think of it as a job, it seemed more like a hobby. I had more fun writing the story line of the game rather then making it. I'm not leaving forever anyway, I will be back from time to time and see how everyone is doing. By the way, if you do randomly bump this topic: I WILL NEVER RETURN!!!(just kidding ) Think of it more like a friend going on vacation. I'm not going away forever. (I sound like a broken record) |
