John, Im concerned that using the backend utility to automatically move this forum over to the old location may break some things, Im going to have to test a bit longer, once thats done we can work on implementing the new captcha features you were looking into.
So far this appears to be bug free, great idea to move this to 2.0

The general consensus seems to be that the 'are you human' questions in v2 are a big part of what blocks the bots. Also, I'd be happy to help sift through new members or figure how to improve security if things get bot crazy again. So far everything seems to be going fine with bbs1.

Thats a tough question to figure out, I have google analytics and various other traffic counters setup, but obviously the forum is the overwhelmingly large % of site visits (around 99%) so that probably indicates most people are bots.
We have had up to 600 hits in one day to the forum, Im guessing those are spammers mostly though :P
