Meta tags

I just realized this forum was still using the digitaldevildb.com meta tags (occurred to me while browsing the new Wordpress theme)

I've copied the tags of the main website front page for now...

<meta name="description" content="" />
<meta name="Keywords" content="sword of moonlight, from software, king's field, dark destiny, ascii entertainment, dmpdesign,">

But I think we can do a lot better than this. Someone should come up with a description, and for keywords virtually anything you can brainstorm is worth tossing in. Video Game, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, First-Person, Game Design, for example are all fine keywords.

I would throw in
Diadem of Maunstraut
Trismegistus

and when the other games are finished we should add SeaGuard etc.

Ill think of some other words to add to the list and we can write up a description no problem.

I'm thinking like DIY, indie, independent... I don't know how important this stuff is, but it's always fun to see what websites think of themselves.

Crawlers like Google give minimal attention to keywords if there is significant information on a given page, which is nice, because customizing the keyword list on a page by page basis is kind of a pain, plus there is always the conundrum of whether the per page words have priority over the holistic words or what. In hindsight I suppose there should be meta tags for page-keywords and site-keywords. Maybe there is and I'm just unaware.

Anyway, whenever a description rears it's head I will add it this stuff along with a medley of generic words to all the pages under som.com.

Edited: for the Wordpress website I will add a provision for adding keywords to pages/posts per the author's request. Priority wise they'll just be tacked on to the front of the list.

Generally it makes more sense to stick with established words, like fpsmaker (assuming that's a product) though 3D would be a good word I suppose.

I've observed Google's use of keywords on otherwise featureless pages... usually frames. It's really very daft. It doesn't even make associations. Like if you have fantasy as a keyword, it will serve up ads with the word fantasy in it, instead of say fantasy games / novels. Some might say that is a feature, but to me it seems really weak.

It's not worth losing your head about, but it's still part of a website after all.
