You get the Evil Ring in the Passage Of Thieves or in the Passage Of Death I don't remember. But I never found a proper use of it. It just gives me a bad condition and slightly increases something. So the best choice is to kill him and get the flask. But I usually have 11 or more flasks in the end so there is not much use of this guy (because you get the gold ring in the Passage Of Thieves, which is the next map).
