That must have been written by a Nintendo fanboy. Some of the old D&D PC games were technically FP RPGs even though you controlled a party, and Ultima underworld was out in the early 90s- Arena and dozens of others. The only way KF could be considered "non traditional" is by comparing it to s/nes RPGs, but those system's hardware couldn't really pull of a First Person so of course they didn't have m/any.
