I have that same problem with my collection outgrowing shelves. I actually built the shelf in my collection picture (one on the right) and it held my entire collection once. Its upper part was sized to hold a lot of the old big-box PC games, but they outgrew it long ago so I moved them elsewhere and made the shelf PS1 exclusively. Now my PS1 collection is too big to fit on the shelf 
. I have a couple cupboards with even more overflow. I'd love to have a setup like 8bitninja's someday, where the collection is more on display rather than just stored.
