If anyone here is building a SoM map using a widescreen monitor with at least 1440x900 desktop resolution, I could use your help as a tester. I need some opinions on material that I might put in the next patch. Drop me a line at weissvulfATyahoo.com if you'd like to help with testage/opinionage- thanks :)

John! I heart the widescreen map editor!
....but you already knew that. ^_^

I'm using 1680x1050 acer flatscreen, running Vista x64. Been pretty tough to use SOM on this new system. But I will test a new version for you.

That would be great kilroyfx. I don't think I have your email anymore so if you send me a message, I'll reply with the needed test file attached. Thanks :)
Glad you like it so far Tom :). I hope to make sure there's not some inconvenient alignment quirk that will only show up with repeated use or in specific situations. I've done testing myself, but I have so many other things going that I don't have time to really build serious maps. On a different note, did we know that the + and - number pad keys can be used to raise or lower the selected map pieces? I wish I had known that a long time ago; it's easier than using the raise button! Oh man, I wish I had this sooner.
I decided to make my in game maps by basically screen shotting and pasting together sections of the map editor. With this tool it would be far easier to do this...I could probably get the map copied in about 5 screenshots rather than 20. That is the first major improvement I like about this. John this is really good stuff. I was testing this mainly on 1280 x 1024 and I must say even with a non-wide screen style setup its totally worth it. At work I have a dual monitor setup and this application could probably make it able to see the whole map across at once. It is nice to be able to see the whole section across to make sure you are 'centering' a piece or at least know where the center of the map should be without having to actually look for 49,49 on the grid.

Actually, now I can finish my AI mapbuilder, the original screen was too small. I had written something to auto-navigate and select map pieces to build an interestring terrain but the screen space was too small and I had to keep scrolling. I found building maps I really wanted a flood fill feature, taking the current brush and flooding into black areas to start with, then flooding into the pattern your cursor is over.
Maybe I will build an exe that surfs over the top of SOM so you guys can see what I mean. :)
