Hats off to ya. Rainbow

The download (https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/DarkDes...y%20Ex.zip) is back up. I'm virtually certain that is the same version as before.

You will also need this (https://anon.swordofmoonlight.com/holy/E...t_v1.0.zip) at some point (from the same discussion)

You will want the modified som_db.exe file in the tool(s) folder in place of the original (which you probably want to backup) and you will need to copy all of the files in the EX/SYSTEM folder (in the Ex.zip archive) into the tool(s) folder beside it.

You will also want to copy all of the files in the Ex.zip archive into your project and build folders (though many are unnecessary in the project folder that's a good a place as any to keep them)

You should change all the DarkDestiny stuff to the name of your game. You can even use Georgian script to name your game but the .bin file needs to be ASCII only, and the Ex.ini filename needs to end with Ex.ini basically. You will need to make sure Windows is setup to show file extensions or you might get confused. You should also look over the contents of the Ex.ini file and change it to describe your project.

Oh yeah, in the project folder the ini files are called SOM_DB.INI and SOM_EX.INI respectively. So rename the ini files to that (until you're ready to copy them into your final build/game folder)

I believe this is the first time I've ever helped someone setup Ex to work with a project folder instead of a finished game, so those of you with games in the works should pay attention and would probably be better off to go ahead and integrate this into your own project the sooner the better.

If everything is working, when you hit the Pause/Break key on your keyboard the pause extension should kick in and your game will pause / say PAUSED. It might say so in Japanese if your Ex.ini (or SOM_EX.INI) file is not setup / setup for English.

If you get this far Creatura I will help you get Georgian working.

Once you have Ex working with your project, please direct your questions about Georgian support to this (https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/bbs/ind...355.0.html) thread.

It will be good to get some basic howto like posts in there. Feel free to start with very open ended questions like, "ok, so how the hell do I do this?" once the time comes.

Even though there is not really any good resources for setting your project up with Ex I still consider it basic knowledge for Som authors. Why I'd rather it not be part of the non English/Japanese support thread.

I've been trying to make this work for 2 days but no success Doh

Could you please make a video tutorial or something of makeing the Ex work?

The setup is very simple and common sense if you're used to working with computer files. If it seems complicated you may be doing it wrong.

Of course I can't produce a "video tutorial", but if you can I can of course help you figure out what you're doing wrong and then maybe you can craft a tutorial for others.

I think I already described what to do, but if you have any questions feel free to ask. I hope others can help you also Ninja

I have tried everything and I can't seem to find the solution. Could you please add me to your Skype (if you have one) and watch me try to install this? Skype s best for this thing because I can share my desktop view. It's creatura_90.

My ISP (satellite) can't do real-time telephony even if I wanted to. I don't spend a ton of time helping people. If you explain what you are doing, I can tell you where you've gone wrong. Please read my instructions carefully.

Ex is not yet by any means broadly adopted by the community, but I know at least 3 people who got it working. 1 with little to no trouble. 1 with a little assistance required. And 1 who I could've sworn was just messing with my head -- and thanks to that little session I've pretty much sworn off helping people set it up period. That said others should be qualified to help you also if you just explain what you're doing. And don't ask too much of them.

It's much easier to setup than say the DirectX SDK and even easier to work with than Som itself, so I suggest you stick with it, and if you're stuck ask specific questions. Not for someone to spend their afternoon catering to your needs. Getting Ex to work is the easy part anyway.

You could start by telling us what you're trying to do. I don't know if we know that you even have a working project space setup. Do you know where Som is installed on your computer, etc?

EDITED: I'd write up a comprehensive readme but I write for technical people, or at least that's how I think and I can't help myself... so the more detailed the instructions the more people tend to get lost. So I'm just hoping someone will eventually appreciate it enough to setup a tutorial that the kind of people who would have any trouble at all can relate to. I am in the process of setting up a website will include comprehensive documentation, but again it will be more geared towards experienced users wanting to get more out of Ex, because I just am not able to write for non-technical audiences. If you're doing it right it should only take a few seconds and about 5 click/drag operations or less... then you can start renaming/working with the ini files.

Dang Holy, did you have to be so harsh? I mean the dude lives in another country...... All he was asking for was some help using the software YOU created and you have to go and be all mean to the dude.....If Bill Gates was like that Where would we be? ‎  In a sad world of APPLES.... If I was him I wouldn't want your help anymore, and would be like screw him and his EX........... I ain't saying , I'm just sayin' .........Ya know , I think I know who is getting the "Does not play well others" T-Shirt for christmas this year............

I'm not being mean. I'm being fair. If I did it for him I'd have to do it for everyone, and I'm not going to. I just don't deal with individuals. I'd be better off spending that time trying to devise some way to make it easier on everyone, but frankly it's already so damn easy I'm not really worried about it. It's way more practical for him to explain his problem like everyone else in the world with a problem seeking help in an online forum.
