Way too early to get hopes up, but I might have found a way we can use higher resolution textures.

Is this an actual high res texture or is it a far-projected one?

Those are SoM's default wall pieces with a replacement test texture so it's not a projected piece I made with repeated tiling. ‎

Whats the texture dimensions? I noticed that SoM's map textures are often crammed into one 256x256 texture - walls, floor and variants.

It was 1024 Ben. This is 2048- not that that would be a good idea in a real game. I wanted to work on my game rather than more programming stuff, but I was doing a little digging related to Scott's question about a prepatched SoM and found this possibility so I guess I'll see if it's viable. Might make it easier for the people who are making a game.

Looks pretty sweet! This makes me want to make my own SoM game! :D

Or maybe I could make some textures for you guys? I don't know if anyone needs help with that, though. :)

In any case, Sword of Moonlight HD would be pretty neat. ;)

Well so far my enemies are 724x724, which is 3x bigger than SoM's stock.

Im hoping we could have a great skybox texture finally with this method.

OK im intrigued, how are you doing this?

This is one of the reasons I havent gotten back into making a game yet, Ive been waiting for holy diver to explain how SomEx could utilize better texturing because I want to make my game look KFTAC quality, these textures could get it there.

Whats the secret!

I'm just wondering (and I doubt I'll understand) but how did making a prepatched SoM lead to higher res. textures?

(oh, and thanks by the way, I'll download it next time I've got the chance)
Yeah, I'm still around. I haven't much to say anymore however I do lurk around here. Ninja

DMP- It's just a modified texture file format and I'm working on a utility that will let people try it out.

Scott- It's nothing complicated. SoM came with duplicate copies of Item/Object textures in BMP format which SoM doesn't use- I think they're just included so people can modify them to make custom textures if they want. I decided to delete them to save space, and make a TXR to BMP converter so people can remake them if they want. That just got me digging into the TXR format which led to this.
