KF1 SoM

I dont know if anyone still actually posts or monitors this place but I have some problems with SoM's Kings Field that I cant find help for anywhere else

Whenever I launch Kings Field (the SoM remake) the game launches, goes to a black screen and then stops responding.

I tried other games such as Dark Destiny and that game runs fine, but I've yet to successfully get Kings Field to run. If anyone is still around here and could help me, it'd be much appreciated.

You can try opening up the GAME.ini file using notepad in the game folder and trying device 1 or 2 depending on what is set by default, see if that helps.

Do you mean like switching the "device=1" to "device=2"?

I just tried that and I'm still running into the same problem

I'm just surprised that I've searched so much and found no one else that ran into this problem

What operating system do you have? If it's windows 7 or above, it may have to do with windows security restricting some of your folders (usually program files). You can either try messing with your security settings, or move the game folder out of program files and onto your desktop and running it from there.

Yeah Im running Windows 7, however I've read that there's supposedly no problems with KF1 and Win7

I tried moving the folder to my desktop

The only other thing I can think of is that it could be an issue with the movies that play when the game starts up. Not sure what causes it, but I've heard that it's a codec issue, whatever that means. What you can do is try opening up the sample game in SOM, then go into the system editor, open the movies tab, and make sure that all of the movie tabs are set to "NONE". Then save, close the window, and preview the project to see if it works.

when i go into open existing project in SoM there's nothing for me to open within the Kings Field SoM folder

one last question, however

do you have any idea how to set up a gamepad controls?
trying this game using the default gamepad settings felt really painful
