That d3drm.dll (Direct 3D Retained Mode) is part of DirectX. Microsoft stopped developing RM awhile back, but I guess they decided not to even include it in DX10. That means a bunch of older games are going to have that 'missing dll' message, but Microsoft has never really cared about backwards compatibility.
Creatura's or Verdite's solutions should both work, or installing the DirectX9 should work too.
