Steam Heroes - Xbox 360 game available soon

Just starting the website for this game, my first indie project for the xbox 360.

The game will sell for 80c ($1.00) and should be available some time in july.

I will eventually have www.tiamatgames.com up and running but for now the Steam Heroes link can be found here:

I will try to update it soon. ‎  If anyone has an xbox be sure to try the trial game when available and let me know what you think ;)

I would ask Ipower to disable the crap on the 404 page. I can't imagine a service not complying. It's interesting you can sell a game for 1$ on Xbox Live I guess. There's practically nothing on the American PSN while Live sounds like the Ebay of indie games. Is there any kind of review process for the games that go up? I imagine they at least get rated.

For 1$ even I'd give it a play if I could figure out Live... I've only turned my 360 on a few (as in 3 or so) times since I bought the damn thing Doh

EDITED: The diving suit monster looks suspiciously like that one game... Bio Shock. Which I know of because it sounds like System Shock. And is probably tenuously related...

PS: I swear there was already a game called Bio Shock from back in the 90s. Could have been Creature Shock??

Same here, I own no games for it and don't intend to buy any. ‎  I dont know what it is but the xbox just isnt something I am interested in...but thankfully they are easy to make indie games for.

The $1 price point is basically because it is an indie game and not a live arcade game. ‎  The indie games can be priced at $1, $3 or $10, but for a game of <50mb the prices you are allowed to charge are $1-$3. ‎  The statistics show a large advantage going with the $1 game, as folks generally have the same feeling as you "For $1 even I'd give it a play".

I assure you the similarities are purely a coincidence, though you are correct, they are VERY similar. ‎  I actually used a picture from comic of 20,000 leagues under the sea for the reference on the suit.

Does the 360 SDK cost anything? Here lately, last week or so, I've been working on upgrading Som to DirectX9. If it works out the only reason I can think of to do the same for DX10 would be to see if it would work with the 360 SDK. Or is DX9 good enough for the 360? Can you test (ie. play) the game on your 360 somehow without downloading it off of Live?

Those who develop games for the 360 can create PC playable builds, the only requirement of the build is that you install visual C# express 2008 and a compatible version of the XNA developers software (v 3.1 or higher would work).

Steam Heroes will be available for PC on steam shortly after its xbox release and is in the works for an iphone app as well.

I would think personally holy, with a programming background like you have, you could likely construct quite an impressive indie game. ‎  There are some people out there who have created toolkits that could easily be converted to a first person RPG with a small amount of effort...check this one out for example:

I've never really been into that sort of thing other than get rich quick scheming which I think I've grown out of ‎  Rolleyes

Is C# Express a free download? My MSVC license will probably be 2005 until I'm absolutely forced to buy a new one.


I would not do a project like that unless I was confident the profits would be in the millions. But yeah, I can just about do it all.


Edited: In my experience people are barely able to sustain collaboration in anything for very long unless there is a strict master/servant relationship. And I'm just completely disinterested in that, even if I had the seed money. I am curious how much of cut all those services take from your 1$.


PS: You might have tried making it a Steam exclusive with a name like that. Might still be bargaining time before it launches on Live.

Were you blocked out of any retail channels you were gunning for?

I gotta admit, I was not expecting a Tetris puzzler. I hear those are pretty good for quick cash. As a brat I played a lot of Tetris on my Gameboy, and Columns on the Gamegear. Alas those are the only memories I have of taking the genre seriously.

I kinda expected the steampunk angle would be more than window dressing. I see there is an aiming component. Would it work with a gun controller on any platform? Is it inspired by Puzzle Fighter at all?

I'm not sure what I'd expected... maybe something like two sides of toy soldiers blasting thru each others ranks in a grid like fashion.

PS: Looks sweet. A little garish, but sweet nonetheless.

PPS: What is the opponent AI like?

I like the look of this game :)

I dont play many puzzle games... Except puzzle bobble with friends. This looks fast paced.
