EDITED: Verdite neglected to explain that you can change the analog mode by pressing the Esc key. There are probably other things like this to know (that should be explained in a game manual) but this is a fairly important point for the demo. See Reply #7 for more info.
I must be off for holiday business, but I did not see anything in the OP per some matters that we require feedback on.
Namely Verdite reports that the Take item? and popup Save Game menus effectively ignore controller/keyboard input. This is a bug in SOM that Ex does its best to mitigate, I do not personally experience this trouble thanks to Ex. If you play the demo please report whether or not these menus are able to work for you. If not you will get stuck. The game isn't freezing. But it seems that if you click on another window then click back you can get unstuck.
Obviously this is unacceptable, and since at least one person is not able to play SOM games due to this, finding a new way to deal with this bug is agenda #1 from now on.
Again, we could use a census of who is having this problem _and not_ and saving from inside the Main Menu does not count. Edited: There is now a poll here (\<span> site blocked, contact your administrator/bbs2/index.php?topic=119.0)
Also please don't try to make the game play in non-window (fullscreen mode) by editing the Ex.ini file. There are Ex bugs (that will be fixed shortly) that you will run into. You will need a fairly beefy computer to run the demo at a constant clip... or as close to SOM ever gets to that. My computer is still choppy at the lowest resolution, so probably a very high end CPU will make a big difference. Verdite reports no troubles at 1600x900. After making SOM presentable next gen SOM/Ex goals are to make SOM fly on low-end hardware (by stripping as many cosmetic duties away from som_rt.exe as possible)
EDITED: Also I recommend sharing this (\<span> site blocked, contact your administrator/holy/Rath%20Crags.htm) link. No guarantees that the .zip link will be around forever but links on the internet have a way of being just that!
Also, is it just me, or does that black dragon remind you of Guyra with that middle eye? They did have Seath in the first Dark Souls, so it's not too difficult to think that they'd put Guyra in this game. ;)
I've been pining for this expansion for quite some time, once I know I did not get the prepare to die edition for PC for christmas, I am definitely buying it for the PS3 (and probably pc). Has anyone tried it out? How do you like it?
Seems like i missed this, until today... Has anyone else noticed that the Maiden in black has KF style eyes?
Looks like a burn mark or deformation, but to me this is From's nod to the fans of KF. The no eyes thing is traditionally KF. Havent seen it in any other games.
Given that Demons souls was the 'spiritual sucessor' to KF it makes sense.
For any lurkers or users who are following my project, ill let you know the good news... Ill be releasing a demo of what ive completed over the past few months. Rathmor has changed so much since i released my last demo, and the quality of enemies, items, and npc models has soared through the roof since then.
Im pretty sure that my next release will feature alot of interesting stuff for players to try out and enjoy. There are some tweaks needed here and there and i have someone waiting to test my demo before it goes public, hopefully anywhere between the 10th and the 18th of December.
The drawback is that there wont be a massive deal of exploration as i focused alot more on the 'infrastructure' of Rathmor more than anything, for example i created items and models that i would use later on, npcs that you will meet and know throughout the entire game, etc. So i think that after the demo release, progress will be quicker on the level making side of things.
So you could expect maybe a total of two or three maps to explore in the demo, if all goes according to plan. I want the demo to be save game compatible for the final release so i need to get everything right.
Also be aware that ill only be including a maximum of 5% of the whole game which counts for enemies, items, objects and maps... Events too of course.
I hope that more folk will become interested and existing members come out of the woodwork a bit more! This is the future of KF games so it would be nice to see more support in the future. I suppose i cant blame people for being unsure about the outcome of Rathmor, and sitting on the fence, because what ive made in the past has been more of a learning process.
In order of priority, ive got about 10 days to...
Finish off the second and third level.
Finish animating npcs that you meet at the start of the game.
Fix msm and mhm for two map pieces.
Complete placing of enemies (probably alot less structured for the demo.)
Complete experience tables for starting enemies.
Redo a few textures with minor faults.
Make maps for the second and third level.
Hey guys after a long hiatus and some family problems and just lost of interest in the project I am back!
I can safely say I will be, although quietly, working my project again. Also, I would like to thank Verdite for all his graphics he helped me with, the lava and crystal shards and ice and sword graphics work great!
