It looks like it could have been a good game but the programmers messed it up to where 90 percent of the time everything misses even though its like an 80 percent chance to hit !!! How could we fix this ?

Wow, I thought I knew every turn based strategy game for the PS1, but this wasn't on my list! I've seen it around but I never knew it was TBS. Thanks for pointing it out! Reading the reviews it sounds like it could have been a good game but was ruined by balancing issues like the "missing" that you mention.
A rebalance mod to fix those issues sounds brilliant to me. As far as where to start, the procedure would be the same the Brigandine hit/miss tracing method mentioned in the tutorial attached HERE. If the odds are off, it may be as simple as changing a single number.

The RIGHT one of course!
I haven't looked at the game, but if there's a stat that is likely to affect hit miss ratios, find that stat for a specific creature in RAM and set a 'break' in the debugger to stop when that stat is read. Is that tutorial I referenced hard to understand? I never got any feedback on it so I don't know if it's helpful at all, but the procedure it covers is almost exactly what needed for this.

there's some problems like u said about miss/hit and other thing I hated in this game was the oportunity to buy upgraded monsters in shop.
Ex: I start the game and after some battles I upgraded my monster and everybody like when a monster is upgrade. But after couple maps the shop can sell the upgraded monster. So what's the point in upgrade ur beloved monsters if you can buy upgraded ones later? Imagine in brigandine that you level up a hydra to tiamat. After some months you can buy tiamats besides hydras. This for me totally ruin the game. But overrall the game has lots pros and worth playing and As I said yesterday in recommended games: This game worth play and is the closest to brigandine that you go find in video games(don't know if there's pc games closest to brigandine) Some people said that battle for wesnoth is close to master of monster but I didn't like it.

I read on a site a while ago about the hit miss and how it works . It said each round the computer pics a number from 1 to 100 and if the number is above the hit chance u miss that's it so example if the number is 98 and ur highest is 94 all your side and the enemy misses for that round .
Yeah I didn't like how you could buy evolved monsters later .

Do you have a link to that site? It might provide clues about changing the formula. It's interesting that this game was released by ASII Entertainment who also released the King's Field series of which Sword of Moonlight is part.

I own it and was recently wondering how much my PS1 copy could fetch on eBay, as it seems rare.
I recall this being unplayable. 6 playable unique characters, hex system, monsters with graduating paths, turn based strat game has just about everything I could ask for, and yet once I put it down I never considered ever trying it again. The one thing I recall was trying to forge my two best units, and getting a slime which is a useless blob. Once I have to consult a guide to start doing ideal combos, I lose interest. This is why I lost interest in Persona and getting demon cards and creating endless combos to create a new Persona, 75% of which will absolutely suck. |
