So I need to know if people like this or not^

There are a lot of posts since last I logged in... I might need a day or two to catch up.

In the meantime, someone comment on this.

I definitely like this so far...I had been toying with some 'guyra's lair' graphics this week at work but this looks better than what I had.

You have alot of good stuff here, and I want to make sure I learn the right way to do things so I can help out with the site maintenance as much as I can.

As for DD, testing is finally going well, and I will be sending it to a couple people soon for more scrutinizing testing, just to make sure the game isnt too ambiguous etc (after all I know all the secrets, so to me everything is obvious).

I will peek at the links you posted this weekend and see what I can do.

There is no real change here. The whole presentation really doesn't amount to much more than a background proposal (to which there is currently none)

I still think it would be worth trying out a fixed Geara's lair type graphic in the background. It kinda puts the "field" in KF that 3D grid plane. The only prob with that approach is even if you fix the background to the window you still kinda have to assume the window could be infinitely large in all directions. I kinda wonder if we could design a grid by using an image that is just a diagonal line and letting the browser resample the lines overlayed upon one another (you know each image would be a different width basically, but the same graphic)

We could think about changing the layout as well, but other than suggesting maybe doing without a banner, like I said this really just amounts to a background. I just want to know if everyone involved (especially you Todd) will care if the website ends up looking like this in general. I think it's pretty cool, because the site is called swordofmoonlight and it's like the theme is literally the sword itself, which seems reasonable enough.

For what it's worth, I think the re-design looks good. ‎  The re-design has a little more pop and stands out more than the current black background.

For the html challenged...how would I go about making a static background that the words and rest of the page can move on? ‎  I have a few guyra-esque background images that may work. ‎  Also what size do you want the background image to fit into? ‎  The images I have will not look good repeating, so it would be best if I can just make them the size youre looking for.

I haven't done web design in AGES but I think you're looking at setting it up so it scrolls.? I used to do this using frames and setting the background.? I never had software to use so everything I did was with hard code with STUNK.? I can look it up for you if no one else chimes in.

Edit:
Here's the link to what you're trying to do: https://www.brownielocks.com/fixedbackground.html

Thank you, I will give it a whirl this week if I get some time at work.

Well I think the black background (behind the moonlight sword background) is good enough, but it's worth experimenting with I think.

Fixed would work better behind the sword, but the infinite size thing is always a problem with websites. I think maybe you could post your backgrounds and I can use those for reference when I go to do something about it.

Like I said, I think I have a plan that will work. It's hard to explain. But it would just use a single simple image for each line and replicate it to form a grid. Then some filler could go behind it. When it comes to webdesign, I'm practically a professional, and top of the line at that. So no one has to worry about the technical side of things.

Well I was finally able to make this (https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/wp-index.php/) work on all the major browsers (will check old version of FF later) ...let us know if it does not work right for you (haven't tried Opera for example)

Todd cooked this (https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/Hometest.html) up while I was at it. It only works right on IE atm. I will use it as a reference to make something more browser friendly (than a fullscreen download)

If you try (https://www.swordofmoonlight.com/wp-index.php/) with Firefox and set the option to only scale text, you can scale the text and see that it will accommodate four 1080 screens of content (I will try to accommodate extreme scaling as well)

The background graphics are just stand-ins. Now that it works I will try to do something a little cleaner. Someday there will probably be an additional graphics overhaul after some consideration.

We're also planning a refraction effect that will follow the scrollbar and possibly the grid will shift perspective as well.

Right now we're just banging out the background theme, so let's not freak out about the content just yet Cool

FYI: It's actually a real trick this design because the page essentially must be loaded in reverse, which is not how html works. Basically you gotta start at the tip of the sword and work backwards to make things line up. I'm relieved it seems to work well enough so far. Still needs some work in order to squeeze into 800x600 but that shouldn't be a problem.

PS: In the future all pages will fit on/into this theme, unless they are part of a sub-website set aside sor a SOM game/project wishing to maintain it's own unique webspace.
