Wiki work!

Okay, I'm putting up a new thread for updates regarding the wiki. That way we won't have one thread with a dousin topics. ;)

These articles are currently getting a lot of attention:

I think we could also do with an article similar to the "Releases and variants", but for SoM games instead.

Looking good! I'm tempted to add an items section for my game :)

Do it! And perhaps an article about the game itself? :)

I've removed the Italian KFIV variant, as I discovered it's non existant - or rather, the British and the Italian are one and the same. Also, I've scanned and uploaded images of King's Field IV German, British/Italian, French, and Japanese variants, in addition to variant #1 of KFAI and KFAII.

The manuals are in the language of the game, but you can't see that without opening the manual - on the outside, the manuals are identical. :)

All KFIV variants now have scans! Go have a look! :)

PS: How do you find disc CRCs?

Luckily KF games have a single data track so it's fairly easy.
Get a copy of ISOBuster, insert original game disk in PC's drive (won't work with a copied CDR disk).
For CD:
Right click on 'Track 01' and select 'Extract Raw data (2352...)".

For DVD:
Right click on 'Track 01' and select 'Extract user data...'

When finished, rename track01 and do the above steps a second time. You have to do it twice because CD drives try to fix read errors by 'guessing' what the data is. If a disk has read errors (from scratches etc), its CRC will come out differently each time you dump it.

Lastly, use any CRC32 tool like HashCalc to measure both Track 01 images; if both have the same CRC, there's a very good chance the disk image is perfect.

When two disk images have identical CRCs, they are byte for byte identical.

Hope you find your jewel case copy, John! Oh, and is the phone card identical in both longbox versions? (I've only got the phone card for one of the two variants, and haven't seen one with the touched up artwork.)

I've uploaded KFII scans now, more precisely the Japanese PSOne Books variant, the European promo disc and all three European variants. :D

PS: Personal opinion, the PSOne discs are pretty cool looking. :3 I want to see what the KFIII PSOne looks like, though. It's surprisingly hard to find.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. :)

Also, just uploaded KFIII The Best. ;) I don't have the spine card, though. :/
