  Mytrosia Cover Art and title Screen

  Sketchup for use with SoM

I am sure many of you have heard of Googles FREE awesome modeling software Sketchup?, If not please visit google to see how easy it is to make models in skethup........... The beauty of sketchup is , that already has an army of impressive models ,including houses and other great goods as models ...ALL free with unlimted use..... PROBLEM......Sketchup FREE version only handles it own files, and the ones you make canNOT be exported in OBJ format.Very sad....... But Not for me ....And now not for my SoM friends.......... Sketchup Free can howerver export in its' own KMZ format (google Earth4) and if you extract the files in a KMZ file using Almost any software, IE WINRAR, WINZIP......you will see that sketchup actully is a form of Collada....... and in fact MOST skethup models can be downloaded in DAE. format......... So now How does one use this power for SoM ?.................... if the stetchup model you want to convert has the download option of DAE......Download that version, if not follow this guide to extract the DAE file(s) from the KMZ version ‎  https://sites.google.com/site/alexvaqp/sketchupblender ......Now once you have the DAE version of the file you want to use with SoM........... Open blender(free of course) and import the model in Colloada 1.4 it will open and be ready to then EXPORT as an OBJ file to use in meta......... or you can just use it in blender like I do then save as an OBJ, then save as an .X file......the rest is every should know how to do......... ‎  Examples below......................Happy Modeling..............ML

  Backing up Save Games?

The game with all my progress is saved on my laptop right now. I have Dark Destiny installed on both my XPS desktop and my laptop, but my progress isnt the same on both. Is there any way that I can use a jump drive to take my save game from my laptop and move it to my desktop so that i dont have to start all over?


And a bit off topic, but another question, the forums are seeming to crawl lately to me. It takes anywhere from 10-30 secs to load each link once i click it. Any other website doesnt do that, and my internet connection is perfect. What could cause that? ‎

  MDO vs MDL

Can you help me with a couple things?

I'd like to know if you can think of a single animated anything that uses a MDO file. I can't off the top of my head / am guessing MDO doesn't do animation.

Then I'd like to know if there is a single item that uses a MDL file. I can't think of anything. But if you can't either it would help to know if you can modify an item .prf file to reference a MDL file / get it to show up that way.

If you can use a MDL file for items. Then you might try using an npc MDL file and see if you can find any circumstances where the item plays back an animation (npcs have the most animations, none of which are ever skipped)

Do MDL files show up in itemedit I wonder? I left my thumbdrive with that on it in town, so I can't easily check that.

Can someone please give me a hint or advice or something?
I am playing dark destiny, i am at the part where you just got the fireball spell from the lighthouse. I have jumped down from the path that leads back to town. I have explored the entire area over and over and over now and can not find any doors that arent "locked" ( I have found 0 keys so far). I have walked up and down every wall so far clicking "use" repeatedly just hoping for a hidden door or something. I cant get back to town, and no matter what it seems that i cant go forward. Did i just miss a key? Can I go back and get it or is it too late now? This is driving me nuts! ‎  Mad

Ok, so i just started playing Dark Destiny, really liking it so far...but im at the part in the beginning where i just got the Earth Crystal from the cave, where the guy says hell give you the key to the city but winds up really not doing it :p...anyways, the crystal says "Magic Learned" when you obtain it and you get the support magic "Earth Heal"...I have 44 mp, and my magic i think is at 18 right now. My character lvl is 11...Under my bar for attack wait, the MP bar isnt there. I know theres supposed to be a blue bar but there isnt. And when i click to use the magic it just leaves the menu screen, but never will cast it? ‎ 

Am i missing something here? This is the only spell i have, and it wont cast!


EDIT: I figured it out actually, you have to get the fire crystal from the lighthouse and learn an offensive magic spell in order to gain the blue magic bar before you can cast any of the defensive magic spells.



It has been forever since ive played kings field, when i was younger i LOVED Kings field 1 and 2 for ps one. I played them non-stop and even my email since i was 15 years old (im now 21) has been [email protected]. :]

Id just like to say that the Sword of moonlight tool, and especially Dark Destiny, are both really nice to see out for the public. It really took me back to the golden days of gaming, where games were still a challenge, and you still really got into the role of the character instead of the new games where it just feels as if you are running someone else to their goal. Dark Destiny actually inspired me, and i got on Amazon today and ordered a psone console, memory card, and kings field 1 and 2. Im excited to finally play through them again! :]

Anyways, I guess im trying to say thanks for Dark Destiny, DMP Designs. It's really an incredible game, and it seems almost as if im playing all of the kings fields at once. ‎  Smile

  Som discovery in map parts

found a discovery last night with map parts...... a few months ago I posted some of my findings on map parts..... One of my findings is that map parts don't observe the "black" rule.......Meaning map parts "show" black areas instead of making " black" invisable...... well Funny thig is that when I make or test new parts , I always leave the sky off.... well I was setting up a pic to post last night and I turned the sky On to night...... upon rendering WITH the sky on , Black went bye, bye............ Meaning that with a sky Map parts DO obey the "Black rule".......... great news for anyone wanting to make low poly map parts out of 2D objects like trees and such but know this unless the sky is off......... black will disapeare...........Just passing this info on..........ML ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎  ‎  See pics.......

  'Mytrosia' and 'Fallen By The Way' News

Hello my friends..... Sorry for the long delay in progress reports.... I have been working alot and ‎  have MAJOR news to report...... My fallen by the way web link will be fixed by june 1 st......... I have made MAJOR changes but am waiting to post a demo befor I raise anymore hopes...... So here it is I won't sugar coat....... I have officialy killed the the SoM project of fallen by the way..... Now don't be sad, Fallen by the way WILL be released next year, but I have decided to make it what I wanted in the first place... A REAL GAME..... 128 bit engine, and all the stuff a NEW game should have....... My engine is Crystalspace, an exellent but hard to use engine that works seamlessly with Blender..... it is open sorce , free and you can sell your work,,,,,, please wiki it to see what I mean..... I have a C++ college student helping me write the source game code......So all is well, and FBTW WILL live and WILL be a TRUE "games for windows" title...... and will look as good as the models I have spent 7 months working on.. Will feature true motion blur , particle effects , the works..... and , as stated before works with blender and blender's animation engine.FOR REAL CUSTOM ENEMIES AND NPC'S....... also works with most high end map editors...... stay tuned to FBTW.com in june for details....... NOW, for all my friends whom have helped me over the last 7 months..... I still love SoM , and recomend to any one whom wants to make a game to make an SoM game...SoM provides game theroy, event theroy, and of couse model making skills...... A must for any new devolper..... So for my fans and just to say I did it, I WILL be releasing a working SOM title called 'Mytrosia" ‎  ‎  I have 4 maps ready made for it and will demo it soon....... Mytrosia is the prequel to fallen by the way....... Mytrosia is Madison's Home land..... it this game will document all the events that lead up to fallen by the way.......... I realized that my hopes for fallen by the way were IMPOSSIBLE for the weak and sad SoM engine.... and spending months trying to "RIG" som to do what other engines do standard was stupid and too time consuming...... Mytrosia will be a standard Som game with only a CGi opening and ending...... the video limitations of som SUCK..... Mytrosia is Island based and takes place on 8 islands...... 22 maps will be all there is to it....... I will also be using the standard som map set with all the ones I made for FBTW, that way I can get this game done, instead of making map parts for days at a time......... It will have many many customs that were made for both FBTW and DD.... (thanks Todd).... While it won't be the glorious vision I had of FBTW, it will be a solid som Based game with good plot.......... if anyones interested in knowing the story..Just ask ........ I will be hosting it here and on my own web site ,and ‎  will be freeware, and will release all my parts open source, upon it's release........... I am making it for the challenge and, for the fact I did not spend ‎  7 months F*%King with SoM to not make a game for it, I am just being realistic...... Som is so out of date that it hard to make a powerful game with it........ But I think Mytrosia will be as good as DoM and maybe even DD.........   I'll be a ghost for a while

Ill probably be checking the boards semi daily to make sure no one is stuck on anything but I dont anticipate being much more than a ghost for a while ( a month or two?)

Should be releasing an xbox game sometime in may or early june that is going to have my artwork in it and im behind a big time crunch for a company that needs stuff asap, so I am basically worthless to the KF folks for the time being.

In the meantime I sure hope to see a Fallen By the Way demo or Verdite's game in a demo form so i have something to look forward to when i get back into things.

Also, hopefully some of you guys out there working on games can give holy some help on getting that mdl editor up and running...it has promise and probably would make your customs very cool in your games.
