  Lenigrast Dark Souls II

Just in case you any of guys missed it....

https://i.imgur.com/U721kEo.jpg

I'm not sure if I see the same person, but it is interesting

It's like Velstadt and Garl Vinland... So their head gear kinda looks similar and they both serve a similar purpose, so what? From a lore perspective, it could just be a coincidence or even worse... a reference!

Maybe there is a relationship, they could be tapping into the same wavelength or sharing the same essence. Maybe Garl Vinland's armor is based on the ancient Velstadt or vice versa.

The Lost Sinner is not the -DrKSII SPOILER!-, even if they have the same soul... but they are directly related by the Lore, explaining their numerous similarities to a certain degree

Can we get a Dark Souls II board? Haha

  King's Field V - General Discussion
Posted by: JC Bailey - 2014-08-11, 01:50 AM - Forum: King's Field V - Replies (19)

Well here it is, my next big Sword of Moonlight project, King's Field V, and it's exactly what the name suggests: a long awaited sequel to the famed King's Field series.

First off, most of the game will take place in a large, undead-filled hellhole called The Underworld, and a small kingdom above it named Nephrite. The plot will center around the first king of this kingdom, King Vinhardt I, who is resurrected as an undead 100 years after his reign. When he emerges from his tomb, he discovers that his kingdom is in ruins and that a gate leading to The Underworld has been opened underneath Nephrite Castle. Having no other option, he ventures into the gate to find a way to close it and banish the undead from his decaying kingdom.

The level design itself will be similar The Ancient City, in that it will be very nonlinear and handcrafted. Also, being that the game has a heavy theme of the undead, it will be a lot darker in tone than any other game in the King's Field series. And sorry, but King's Field V won't have anything to do with the story of the original trilogy, as I felt that creating a new world would be a more logical progression for the series.

Anyway, King's Field V will have its own map sets and far more custom resources in general than any of my past games, including a custom soundtrack (right Ben? Wink). It's going to be a very big project that I'm guessing will take around 8-10 months to finish. Once I finish conceptualizing, I'll start a daily update thread here so everybody can keep up to speed with the progress of this project.

I'm looking forward to posting more updates in the future and eventually releasing the game, wish me luck!

  King's Field World Inter-connectivity Chart
Posted by: JC Bailey - 2014-08-10, 08:49 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

This is a simple chart I made that shows how each of the areas in the King's Field games inter-connect with each other. It's actually an edited version of a chart I made for a Sword of Moonlight game I'm working on, but I'll elaborate more on that later. Wink

For now, enjoy not getting lost in King's Field ever again!

  Crash Error on Windows 8.1
Posted by: JC Bailey - 2014-08-08, 12:02 PM - Forum: SOM Guides, FAQ and Help - Replies (8)

So I'm using Windows 8 now (not that I'm happy about it), and whenever I open up SOM's map editor it'll frequently crash on me at random and an error message will pop up. It looks like a Direct 3D problem, anybody know how to fix it?

  King's Field III {spoilers, conspiracies, and more!}
Posted by: Xethuminra - 2014-07-31, 11:54 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (51)

Hello! If you've played King's Field II (US), I'd like to hear your thoughts on this concept...

Vallad is not really who he says he is

The truth is... Vallad is a ruse and a manifestation of the Black Dragon, Guyra

First of all....

Dark Gods love pretending to be the good guys in From Software games

Now.... as for Guyra masquerading as Vallad

Guyra has done this sort of thing before.

Guyra was "secretly" responsible for a lot of things in King's Field, things which were not actually connected to Guyra until way later in the series

We find out that The Royal Cemetery was originally built for the resurrection of Guyra

The dark place beyond the chasm before the final boss of King's Field (JP) was actually a portal to the dimension of Guyra

Milia, the force of "good" in KF(JP), who can empower the Sword of Moonlight, just like King Alfred's spirit, is an emissary of Guyra

The Sword of Moonlight was stolen from Alfred by Guyra

King's Field (US) is about how The Sword of Moonlight was created by, yes, Guyra

However, interestingly, King's Field II (US) states that the sword was created by "Vallad"

Hmmm.....

So, if it was actually Vallad who made the sword, and not Guyra, why would "Vallad" tell Lyle to seek Guyra to repair the Sword of Moonlight?

Who is Vallad anyway?

Vallad is a talking, pale blue crystalline "tree", who claims to be the father of humanity

And pretty much all life on Earth

Well, everything Guyra put his hands on was made from sentient, pale blue crystals

And, who can corroborate "Vallad's" story?

Nobody. Not even Orladin.

Who, by the way, was known for summoning demons and has been decapitated, similar to Alfred's (Seath's) guards and the mysterious Black Knight

Really bad people

Speaking of Orladin, why would Vallad reveal himself only to the Elf Ichrius... Why not the dwarves?

Who were the gods of the Elves?

Seath and Guyra

Not convinced?

At the end of KFII (us), why did the narrator use an evil voice to talk as "Vallad"?

In the epilogue of KF (us), the narrator uses the very same evil voice only one time....

To say the name "Guyra"

Get it?

Also....

What is Necron doing in Shadow Tower, seducing the King?

Why does the Dread Knight have a pale blue crystal sticking through his body?

Why does the Demon King's crown look like the Phantom Crown?

Why does the Divine Symbol/first boss look a lot like the Ichrius Key/Symbol of Verdite?

The answer is simple...

Guyra, the Black Dragon, tricked you and won at the end of KFII(US), leading directly into Shadow Tower.

  Framerate Issues with Map Test?
Posted by: snorlord - 2014-07-24, 11:09 AM - Forum: SOM Guides, FAQ and Help - Replies (3)

I know this isn't a Guide or FAQ but none of the other boards looked appropriate so...
When I test a map (just some simple walled in room to test movement and controls) the framerate seems to be very, very poor (seems like it's <5 FPS).
1zhelp

I couldn't find anything related by searching on the forums and I'm just sort of out of ideas. Turning Direct3D Acceleration on/off does nothing. I can't find any information anywhere on the main site either... Has this happened to anyone???

  Shadow Tower (PS1) Demo
Posted by: HwitVlf - 2014-07-20, 06:47 PM - Forum: King's Field Series - Replies (7)

An interesting bit of Fromsoft history: I found a hidden demo for Shadow Tower on disk 1 of "Playstation Underground Vol2 Issue4" which was issued before the US release of the game. It's in the "import" section and includes some gameplay from the opening area.

Cool!

  Dark Souls II

Just got this for my birthday. ‎
Seems more "King's Field-ish" than the first one. ‎  Even more so, the menu interaction is actually very SoM-ish.
I'm really REALLY enjoying it.

Anyone else have thoughts about this game?
